  • Grouping of 19th C Habsburg Roe Trophies on Polychrome Plaques with Habsburg Wappen

  • $395.00

  • An extraordinary group of trophies attributed to the Habsburg Family, these antique Roe Trophies hung in Eckartsau Castle, a favorite hunting schloss of the Habsburg family, in the Southern Austrian Alps. Mounted on a hand-carved gilt plaque, featuring the original Habsburg Wappen on the full-cap skull of each trophy. There are currently a small grouping of this style available. Pricing is for one trophy each. If you'd like to make a selection of specific piece, please contact us.

The plaques themselves are original, Black Forest plaques, but have been restored through the process of stripping their original polychrome gilt which was in poor condition to be re-gilt in Italy by the traditional manner. The gilt has somewhat of an ombré effect, with a gold and rust coloring and some black spotting around the cap. We know for certain that these pieces date to the 19th century, but our research on the wappen indicates that they may be as old as mid-18th century.

Plaque alone measures 8.25" H x 4.75" W. The average height and depth of each trophy is 12" to 14" high and 4.5" to 7.5"D. Please review the images for details. There are currently nine (9) available pieces, please refer to the item numbers (PR-XX) to select the piece(s) you wish to purchase. As pieces sell, the images will be removed and this listing will be updated with the number of available pieces. Pricing is PER PIECE.
