This antique tapestry was source in France and is mounted on a carved oak rod with decorative finials. The tapestry features a scene with a man and woman at center, in a garden scene, with a fountain, a child playing and other background imagery. The dress of the figures looks to be much earlier than the timeframe it was made (the dress almost looks 15th century in style). The coloring at center shows that this piece was framed at one point and the center area is a bit darker than the outer edges. The binding at the edges and that the hanging tabs are crafted in have gold thread which frames the piece nicely. This binding may have been added to the piece later. The tapestry is backed with cotton lightly basted around the edges to add weight and support the tapestry (shown).

The tapestry measures 61"W x 61"H on its own. The rod it's mounted from measures 71"W. This allows for 5 inches of rod allowance on each side. The total measurements are 71"W x 61"H x 2.5"D. The end caps on the rod are approximately 2.5" diameter. Shipping dimensions would be 71"L x 8"diameter when rolled up for transport.
