This is an antique French barley-twist armchair with yellow, blue, and green chintz upholstery. The piece is also trimmed with brass nail head accents. The barley twist style is present on the arms and legs, carved in French oak, with original finish. Made around the turn of the 20th century, circa 1900. Barley twist originated centuries ago and can be found in Renaissance period pieces and architecture. It's popularity returned with Gothic Revival, and again later in the early 1900s. The brass, nailhead details are patinated and there is visible wear to the upholstery, but the chair is sturdy and comfortable as is. 

Measures: 22" W x 18" D x 33.5" H. Seat height is 18" and arm height is 25". Surface wear to wood finish, some scratches in the feet and at corners. Wear to upholstery. See images.
