This fantastic tool of winemaking originates from a wine press. As part of a larger piece of manual powered machinery, this wine press screw makes a sculptural statement as a decorative accent. Dating to the mid-19th Century or older, carved out of solid wood, the screw portion is mounted between a base and top that are both relatively square and each feature a simple beveled detail at the edge. The usable portion of the top of this piece is 13.5"W x 13"D (should you wish to use as a pedestal). The bottom of the base is flat and measures 14.5"W x 14.5"D. See images for more details.
Measures 36.75" H x 14.5" W x 14.5" D. Surface wear present. The coloring is a rich chocolate-tone that is patinated in the areas where it likely would have been handled most. Discoloration is present on top (shown). Finish is original.
