Given the culture of horses within Argentina, there's no question why the Argentinean elite have a long standing love affair with the sport of polo. The standard for the sport is widely regarded as the best in the world and polo is believed to have been invented for Argentina's vast, fertile, lowland grass plains, known as the Pampas or Pampa.
This vintage polo trophy discovered during our recent time in Buenos Aires, it measures 6.75 inches tall and 4.25 inches diameter at top. Base measures 4 x 4 inches. Brass plaque reads "Torneo Embajadores, Champagne Federico De Alvear" with a date of 1992.
