19th Century Red Stag Trophy of Emperor Franz Joseph from Kaiservilla, Bad Ischl, Austria
One of two antique Red Stag hunt trophies believed to have been taken by Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria during his time at the Kaiservilla, the former summer capital of the great Austro-Hungarian monarchy in the village of Bad Ischl. Beautiful polychrome gilt technique and original writing on the skull cap. Please see the matching smaller Roe Deer trophies that compliment this piece.
