  • 19th century red stag from Emperor Franz Joseph's castle at Eckartsau in the Southern Austrian Alps, a favorite hunting schloss of the Habsburg Royal family.

    This historic hunting trophy features a hand carved 19th century plaque with the Austro-Hungarian double headed eagle with polychrome gilding technique, and is decorated with an original antique British medal on a satin red cord that was used by the British monarchy in knighting ceremonies.  These antlers originally hung in the interior courtyard of Eckartsau castle and thus were exposed to the elements year round giving the antlers a beautiful bleached effect. Measures 53"h 62"w 23.5"d

    Part of The European Hunt Collection, this collection of antique hunting trophies has been examined and appraised by James Supp of Coronado Trading Co., who is best known for his work with the PBS production "Antiques Roadshow".  All pieces in this collection have been examined and appraised and come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
