  • 19th Century French Empire Painted Comptoir Counter

  • $2,495.00

  • Truly a beautiful discovery during our recent travels, this exquisite antique French comptoir (counter) once was part of a shop or restaurant as there's a lovely inlaid brass slot in the top rear of the counter where patrons would insert their money. Later, the shopkeeper would collect via a drawer on the backside. Three lovely murals are included in the panels, one a landscape featuring a lake, another, crumbling ruins of a castle (likely from the area where this piece was first created) and the third, a delicate bouquet of painted flowers.

We believe this striking piece dates to the mid-1800s and due to it's age and use, the wood and paint finish are clearly distressed but we feel that it adds character and authenticity to the history of the piece. Very solid would be lovely used in a variety of ways, in an entry way, as a bar, in a dining room as a buffet, the possibilities are endless. The back is open and can be excellent storage and shelves could be easily added.

    Measures 52.5" width x 22.5" depth x 33.75" in height.
