This antique German Red Stag trophy is exquisitely mounted on an ornately hand carved gilt wood plaque. The skull cap features a wappen from the Royal House of Baden, and at the bottom of the plaque is the shield of Baden below a carved knight. Above the wappen, on the cap is the letter "B" and as it does not have a crown above, it's believed that this trophy was taken by a crown prince or regent of the Grand Dukes of Baden.
Trophy measures 53" H x 58" W x 29" D (from antler tip to wall). This piece is patinated and there is loss to the gilt that is consistent with the age of the piece. Please see all images for details.
