  • 19th c Austrian Red Stag & Personal Swords of Emperor Franz Josef on Original Plaque

  • $28,900.00

  • This is an extraordinary 19th century Austrian Red Stag trophy of Emperor Franz Josef which includes the personal court and military swords of the Emperor as well as his hirschfänger (hunt sword), mounted together on an original, hand-carved plaque. This trophy was taken by the Emperor himself, an exciting fact for any buyer. The swords are wonderful examples of the Emperor's personal regalia, along with the hunt horn inscribed with "KuK" which stands for kaiserlich und königlich, meaning "Imperial & Royal." Also inscribed on the hunt horn is "Eck" which is an abbreviation for Eckartsau, the popular hunting schloss of the Habsburg Family in the Southern Austrian Alps. The plaque features a carved wood skull cap as well as black forest imagery on the plaque. The conversations surrounding the history of this piece and its regal weaponry could go on for hours.

    Measures 48"H x 55"W x 26"D. Please see images for full details.
